About Us

Our Vision

Jesus called on the disciples to go into the entire world and preach the gospel to every living creature. We are determined to accomplish His mission and to not be diverted from our mission. Thousands of men and women share this mission with Sunset inspired groups all around the world. The Malawi International Bible Institute carries this as a foundation for its purpose and mission.

Our Mission

It is more than a motto. It is a critical part of our agenda, and it radiates from a

simple statement, “It is the purpose of this school to communicate the full and complete gospel of Jesus Christ to Malawi and its neighboring nations, to the honor and glory of God.”

Education is more than gathering facts and principles. It is more than taking these facts and principles out into the marketplace and teaching them to others. Education is putting these facts and principles into play in our lives and in helping others to put them into play in their lives as well. It may be a simple mission statement, but we feel it has the power to change the world.

Our Focus

Focus on the Bible

Following the example of Sunset in Lubbock, we are also focused on a deep and abiding commitment to teaching and training students to have a sound foundation of Biblical instruction and knowledge. We believe for any aspect of ministry and leadership, a foundation principle for success is a strong knowledge of the Bible.

Focus on Prayer

Our sufficiency is in God, and not in ourselves. Thus, at every opportunity we turn to prayer. We praise and thank God for all that He has done, is doing, and will do. We focus on all who have an association with the school, its students, and its faculty. We pray for our government, for the church, and for all people everywhere. In a word, we seek to be people of prayer in all things and all ways.

Focus on Relationships

It is more than a school, more than classrooms, and more than a training facility attempting to convey facts. Teachers are mentors and models rather than merely instructors and professors. A major focus is that of building a relationship with God, with each other, and with all people who reside outside our doors.

Focus on Simplicity

While there is structure in any organization, we attempt to focus on not bringing cultural entities across national borders and imposing them upon another culture or people. Our focus is to create a pattern as simple as the one within the nation and people that we serve. A constant effort is being made to insure that cultural ideas do not get in the way of our presentation of Biblical principles.

Our History

The exciting entry of a branch of the Sunset International School into Malawi brings a new and exciting dimension to Christian education. Established in 1962 in Lubbock, Texas U.S.A., through the efforts of Cline Paden, the school has continued to expand through the years. Today, the school not only educates ministers and church leaders from its campus in the southwestern part of the United States, its influence is also felt through its international network of partner schools classified as Applicant, Associate or Branch Schools. These schools number 57 and they are located in 37 countries around the globe. Through these efforts thousands of people are equipped for Christian service.

The school in Malawi will grow out of the efforts of the Sunset International School in Lubbock, the Green Valley Church of Christ in Noblesville, Indiana U.S.A. and a network of churches in all three regions of Malawi. Students will attend the campus from these regions, as well as coming to study from other nations in Africa.

International Studies

International Studies is the newest division in the Sunset family and this is where the Malawi International Bible Institute fits in the overall program of Sunset. Students who are sincere and committed to the principles of Jesus Christ, and who are willing to sacrifice in order to follow His lead will be welcome. Students are expected to follow the early disciples who sought to empty themselves of material focus and redirect themselves to a higher calling in Jesus Christ.
